The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in cooperation with the Information Technology Industry Development Authority held the Egypt IoT Forum relaunch preparation meeting. 75 participants representing 36 entities from the public sector, the private sector, the business sector, scientific research, and major technology manufacturers and operators attended the meeting. The forum aims to promote and spread the use of IoT in the Egyptian market.

The participants discussed the latest developments in the Egyptian market with regard to Internet of Things services, on top of which was NTRA issuance of the regulatory framework for Internet of Things services at the beginning of this year. They also presented their visions and recommendations and discussed the challenges that hinder the spread of the service. The participants offered proposals regarding encouraging the industry and preparing technical cadres specialized in the field of the Internet of Things.

The workgroups mechanisms have been adopted, which include two main axes. The first axis is concerned with securing data, developing regulatory and legislative frameworks, spreading awareness and creating an enabling environment for qualifying specialized human cadres. The second axis is concerned with maximizing the use of IoT in public services and utilities such as the health, education, environment and transportation sectors, Tourism, energy, industry, agriculture, irrigation and smart cities.

The relaunch preparation meeting was held at Wednesday, 23 November 2022.
